  20.                           USE OF A TABLE OF CONTENTS
  21.  
  22. This file is set up as an example of how a table of contents may be used.
  23. Notice that the pages are numbered, whereas in the first file ("The Journal")
  24. no page numbers appeared.  The choice of whether or not to use a table of
  25. contents and page numbers, is yours.  Numbering of pages occurs automatically
  26. when the text file is properly coded.  Coding is easy and quick.

  28. After you have found the page you want, you may return to the table of con-
  29. tents at any time by pressing the 'Home' key.  Then, locate your next topic by
  30. using the page-down (PgDn) key.  For very long documents, holding the
  31. page-down key will cause the pages to scroll quickly.  If you pass the page
  32. you want, it is a simple matter to use the page-up (PgUp) key to find your
  33. page.  Once you become accustomed to this, you will find it to be quicker and
  34. easier than paging through a printed book or magazine.

  40.                             PUBLISHING A NEWSLETTER

  42. The "Daily News" masthead is another example of the many titles included with
  43. the registered/licensed copy of the program.  Its modules, which are included
  44. in these XLPLUS files, are named NEWS.DEB and NEWS.DET.

  57.                         CHANGING FILES WITH FUNCTION KEYS

  59. You may press F5 to return to the first file, or F6 to move to the third file.
  60. After you exit, type TYPE RUNME.BAT <CR> to look at the batch file which is
  61. used for this particular display.  This will give you an idea of how to set up
  62. your own batch file, to display one or more newsletter files.  When you
  63. examine RUNME.BAT, you will see not only the way it is set up to display "The
  64. Journal" and "Daily News," but also the way it is written to switch from
  65. XL2000.EXE to XL2001.EXE after the user presses either F6 or Esc.

  74.                        EXPLANATION OF COMMANDS IN RUNME.BAT

  76. HQSW.COM is the program which permits the use of attractive lettering used in
  77. the mastheads, and the words "LIKE THIS" which you saw in the first file.
  78. EGA.COM and VGA.COM are small programs which set the video mode to its
  79. original value after the display is ended.
